Three Dublin schoolgirls were left terrified after a man exposed himself in broad daylight.

It is believed the lewd act took place in the Crumlin area at around 1.30pm yesterday.

The girls, who are believed to attend a local school, were approached by a man, aged in his 50s, near a service station while on their lunch break.

Gardai are investigating the incident but no arrests have yet been made.

"I can confirm gardai in Sundrive Road are investigating an alleged incident that involved a man in his 50s which occurred yesterday afternoon at approximately 1.30pm," a garda spokesperson told the Herald.

Unusual

Local councillor Michael Mullooly said that it is very unusual for something like this to happen in such a populated area.

"I've never heard of anything like this happen before in Crumlin, especially out in the open during the day," he said.

''It must have been a horrific experience for the girls, and I hope they're getting help and support.

"The area tends to be very busy during the day, which makes this incident even more strange."
