THREE people were injured last night after a car crashed into a bus stop.

The incident occurred at around 6pm yesterday evening on Cherry Orchard Avenue in Ballyfermot.

Two young men were in the car when it lost control as they sped towards the bus stop.

Gardai are currently not in a position to confirm whether the vehicle was stolen - however it is a line of inquiry being followed.

The vehicle then ploughed through three men waiting for a bus.

It is understood the injured men are aged 29,30 and the third in his late 30s.

Residents who witnessed the crash called the emergency services, and the two of the men were rushed to St James’ Hospital.

Their condition is understood not to be life-threatening.

The third man did not require hospital treatment.

The two men in the vehicle fled the scene on foot, leaving the damaged car behind.

Shortly afterwards a man on a bike threw a petrol bomb at the car, in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence, according to the Star.

Gardai are investigating, however a spokesperson told Independent.ie no arrests have yet been made in relation to the incident.
