Three motorcyclists die in separate road accidents this weekend

Three motorcyclists were killed in separate collisions on Irish roads over the weekend.

A male motorcyclist in his 20’s was fatally injured when his bike was in collision with a car on the Abbeydorney to Tralee Road earlier this evening.

The incident occured at 6.20pm and the female driver of the car was uninjured.

The deceased has been removed to Kerry General Hospital where a full post mortem examination will take place tomorrow.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Richard Carson, 40, from the Newtownards area was killed in the collision between his motorcycle and a blue Peugeot car on the Ballysallagh Road in Crawfordsburn around 3pm.

The woman driver of the car has been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Mr Carson is the second motorcyclist to die on Northern Ireland's roads over the weekend.

A 39-year-old man died after a road crash near Larne yesterday morning.

He was riding a Suzuki bike on the Shanes Hill road when he was in collision with a Renault Scenic car in the area of Kilwaughter around three miles outside the town.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed any of the collisions to contact them.
