Three men arrested after tobacco seizure at Dublin airport

THREE men were arrested after revenue custom officers seized 315kgs of tobacco at Dublin Airport yesterday.

The Chinese men aged 41, 33, and 27 were arrested in connection with the seizure worth a retail value of €128,000.

The tobacco, believed to be of Chinese origin, was found when officers searched a cargo consignment that had arrived from Bulgaria described as containing “advertising T-shirts.”

In a separate incident on September 13 revenue officers seized 870kgs of counterfeit ‘Golden Virginia’ brand empty tobacco pouches which had arrived from China described as ‘plastic packaging.’
