Thousands of farmers to hold protest at Dail
THOUSANDS of farmers are to hold a national day of protest in Dublin tomorrow.
They will picket the Dail in an attempt to ramp up pressure on the Government ahead of negotiations in Brussels on the next important round of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
IFA President John Bryan has warned that a bad deal, as proposed by the EU Commission, will cost Ireland thousands of jobs.
"We have two issues, one is securing the budget itself which results in a net transfer of approximately €1.6bn per year. The second is the way it would be distributed, we have big difficulties in the way the EU agricultural commissioner wants to do this so we're sending a message to the Government in Dublin, ''he said.
