Thousands celebrate end of state exams
THOUSANDS of students celebrated last night as the Junior and Leaving Cert exams began wrapping up for another year.
Events included several 'end-of-exam' nights, held exclusively for third-year pupils. The Wezz nightclub in Donnybrook, Dublin, attracted a huge crowd.
Among them was Thea Kinsella (15), who was glad to put "two tough weeks" behind her as she celebrated with friends from Rathdown College in Glenageary. Closer to the city centre, there was a more frantic atmosphere at Howl at the Moon on Mount Street, where over 1,000 Junior Cert students descended for the night.
Almost 117,000 pupils sat their Leaving Cert or Junior Cert exams this year.
Celebrations began for most Junior Certs last night, while small numbers still have to sit their Latin, Classical Studies, Italian and Ancient Greek exams.
