They like those Apples ... iPad 2 devoured on launch

Edel Kennedy

TECHIE fans took a big bite out of the Apple at the weekend and gobbled up every available iPad2 on sale.

The coveted tablet computer went on sale in Ireland for the first time at 5pm on Friday, and stores sold out in less than 90 minutes.

It is unlikely to be back on the shelves for some time as people are now pre-ordering it to ensure they get their hands on it sooner rather than later.

CompuB said it had just under 200 for sale last week and they "flew out".

PC World doesn't have any in stock either -- but will ship one within three to five days if it's ordered.

The iPad 2 is a thinner and faster version than it's predecessor, the iPad, and features two cameras for video chat.

Prices begin for the 16GB WI-FI only model at €479, rising to €799 for the 64GB tablet.
