Terror suspects hunted down in Paris gun battle

French police fired nearly 5,000 bullets in a fierce gun-battle in a Paris suburb with a terrorist team, which the authorities believe was preparing for another attack.

The French authorities are now trying to establish if the mastermind of the Paris terror attacks is among the dead from the fire-fight.

A dawn raid on an apartment block in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis was so violent that police must wait for the results of DNA tests to identify the remains of two terrorists who were killed.

Data on a discarded mobile phone found near the Bataclan theatre led officers to a flat close to the Stade de France stadium.

The Paris public prosecutor said at least two people were killed in the assault targeting Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected planner of last Friday's attacks, which left 129 people dead.

Meanwhile, Isil taunted Russia with what it claimed was a photo of the bomb that brought down a passenger jet from Sharm El Sheikh last month, killing all 224 people on board. The image showed a fizzy drink can, which would have been packed with explosives, a detonator and a possible trigger switch.
