Teens ready to rock at alcohol-free music bash
AN alcohol-free music event for under-18s is ready to roll, writes Breda Heffernan.
The first Hype Youth Fest takes place in Longford town on Saturday with, so far, around 4,000 young people expected to travel from around the country for the mixture of music, movies and fun.
It is organised by the Foroige Attic Youth Cafe in Longford as a means of raising funds for a new home.
It has 800 members and has outgrown its current base in the town's Temperance Hall.
Private security will be in place at the festival site, Longford Rugby Club, to ensure no alcohol is brought in, while gardai will also be present.
Among the bands lined up for the main stage are Royseven and The Kanyu Tree. Tickets cost €30 and are available to Foroige members.
