Teenager has three fingers hacked off in machete attack
A 16-YEAR-old boy’s fingers were hacked off in a brutal machete attack that took place in the kitchen of a family home.
The teenager’s hand was also nearly severed and he suffered serious injuries to his legs and arms.
The boy ran into the home in Kilcronan Close, Clondalkin, in an attempt to escape two men, one of whom was wielding a machete.
A woman who lives in the house, had been sitting on the front doorstep when the victim ran past her into the property.
He was pursued by two men who caught up with him in the kitchen after he was unable to unlock the back door.
During the vicious assault, blood was splattered all over the kitchen floor, on the walls and the ceiling.
“He was trying to get out the back door and they caught him. He lost three fingers,” a source told the Herald.
“His hand was kind of hanging and there were deep gashes up his arm,” another source said.
The teenager, who does not live in the locality, had hit one of his attackers with a chair in an effort to defend himself.
“The young fella came running out of nowhere and somebody ran after him and sliced him up in the kitchen,” the source said.
“He was trying to escape, from wherever he came from I don’t know. He saw the door open and the porch light was on,” they added.
“When I looked out the window he was just lying there on the grass. There wasn’t a word out of him.”
The incident occurred last Friday night, shortly after midnight. It’s understood that he teen was initially taken to Tallaght Hospital but was later transferred to St James’s.
