Teenager arrested in connection with alleged rape of US woman in Galway released without charge
A TEENAGER arrested in connection with an alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman from the US in a Galway town has been released without charge.
It is understood that the alleged incident happened on May 5 - over the bank holiday weekend - at the back of a pub in Tully Cross in Connemara.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that a 17-year-old male was arrested on Tuesday May 7 in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old female at Tully Cross, Renvyle, Clifden Co Galway on May 5.
"He was detained at Clifden Garda Station under the provision of section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984. The male was later released without charge and a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions," the spokesperson said and added that "no further comment will be made owing to the nature of the investigation."
