Teenager arrested and houses evacuated after suspicious device discovered in west Dublin
A FIFTEEN year old has been arrested after Gardai discovered a suspected explosive in a house in west Dublin.
The discovery was made in a house in Corduff Gardens at approximately 7.20pm tonight during a search of the premises.
The house and others near it were evacuated while the army bomb disposal unit attended the scene.
Residents were allowed back into the house shortly before 9.30pm when an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team declared it safe.
It is understood that the device was not intended for use at the residence in which it was found.
The young man is being detained at Blanchardstown Garda station under section 30 of the offences against the state act.
A spokesman for the Defence forces said that the device is being transported back to base, where it will be examined to determine whether it is viable or not.
