A TWIN killed in a car crash in which his sister was injured was "never apart from her" friends have said.

Shane Brolly (18) was killed when the car he was driving was in a collision with another vehicle in Ballybofey, Co Donegal, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

His sister Emma suffered a broken arm in the accident, which took place 200 metres from Jackson's Hotel in the town at around 3.30am.

Mr Brolly was from Greenhills in Convoy, east Donegal.

He was pronounced dead at Letterkenny General Hospital an hour after the crash.

"The family is just devastated. Their grief is beyond words. Emma is distraught at losing Shane," said one family friend.

One of their uncles is a serving garda.

The driver of the other car involved in the crash, a woman in her 40s, was also hurt. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Witnesses to the collision or anyone who was on the Ballybofey to Glenfin Road between 3.20am and 3.45am on June 24 are asked to contact Ballybofey gardai on 074 9137740, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
