A TEENAGER suspected to have been in a car which was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident which left a pensioner dead has handed himself into gardaí.
The 16-year-old was one of two people being hunted by officers after James Brennan (81) was killed in the crash outside Ferns, Co Wexford, on January 12 last.
Gardai have been hunting for two Traveller cousins from Wicklow after a stolen car in which they were travelling smashed into Mr Brennan's vehicle. One of the individuals wanted in relation to the incident presented himself at Gorey Garda Station on Saturday afternoon. He was arrested at 2pm in Gorey and was later taken to Enniscorthy Garda Station.
A source revealed that the youth was believed to have been "a passenger in the stolen car," which hit the couple's Toyota Corolla as they made their way home from bingo.
The juvenile was held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Enniscorthy Garda Station.
