Teen for trial over criminal damage to car
A 17-YEAR-OLD boy accused of causing about €11,000 worth of damages during an arson attack on a Mercedes car in Dublin city centre last year has failed to halt his trial.
The north Dublin boy has been charged at the Children's Court with criminal damage to a 04-reg Mercedes at St Joseph's Parade, Dorset St on April 14 last year.
In February this year, the DPP held he should be charged but he repeatedly evaded gardai, the court heard. His counsel submitted the case should not proceed due to a delay in charging the teenager, who has not yet entered a plea to the charge.
However, the judge said the teenager had repeatedly tried to evade arrest. She remanded him on continuing bail to appear again next month.
