THE teenager whose spinal surgery was paid for privately by an anonymous donor is recovering after undergoing a major operation.
Jason Slevin (18) from Roscrea, Co Tipperary, was operated on at the Blackrock Clinic in Dublin on Wednesday. He was on a waiting list in Tallaght hospital but it stopped doing major spinal surgery earlier this year due to funding problems.
When his case was highlighted on television, an anonymous donor offered to pay. Surgeon Pat Kiely gave his services for free while the implants were donated by an Irish distributor.
