A BRIGHT dash of royal purple ensured a junior infants teacher stood out among the hundreds of colourful fashionistas braving a chilly Grand National Day at Fairyhouse.
Teeth chattering, stylish Caroline Hassett (31), from Dunleer, Co Louth, admitted she was delighted to have scooped the Carton House Most Stylish Lady with an €8,000 prized package for the resort.
The teacher, pictured right, was enjoying a day away from the classroom to turn up the style stakes, as she wore a classic cream coat from Ollie & Mac in Navan, combined with shoes from Top Style, Dundalk, a hat from Fortuna, Dunshaughlin, and a purple scarf tied around her waist.
She said: "I haven't been at the races in about three years. I've been racing about three or four times."
Judge and fashion creator Brendan Courtney said: "The standard was very high and entrants really made the effort to inject a unique purple element to their outfits.
"Caroline was a very deserving winner and we all agreed her look was effortlessly chic, elegant and in keeping with the theme."
Courtney was joined by Rosanna Davison and Irish Independent Fashion Editor Bairbre Power in the judges' box.
