Taxi man threatened at knifepoint by teen in Dublin hijacking
A youth has been arrested following the hijacking of a taxi in south Dublin early this morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 5.25am when the taxi stopped for a fare on Terenure Road North.
The 15-year-old boy got into the taxi and threatened the taxi driver (36) with a knife, demanding money.
He told the taxi driver to leave his car and the youth then drove off in the car in the direction of the city.
The stolen taxi collided with another car on Old Cabra road in Dublin 7 at approximately 5.45am.
The teenager then fled the scene but was arrested by gardai a short distance away.
He was taken to Rathmines Garda station where he is being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
No one was injured during the incident.
