Taxi driver threatened at gun point in carjacking


The car hijackers were armed with a handgun

A taxi driver was threatened at gun point and his car stolen in an overnight hijacking.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the attack, which happened near The Curragh, in Co Kildare, early this morning.

The suspects, described as being in their early 20s with strong Dublin accents, threatened the driver with a handgun, before robbing his phone and wallet.

They then forced the driver out of car and fled the scene.

One of the attackers wore a white jacket, while the other was had a green jacket. Both had hoods.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who might have seen a silver coloured Toyota Camry taxi, partial registration 04D, traveling on the R413 between Kildare town and Newbridge between 3:30am – 4am to contact them.
