Taoiseach praises Irish rugby team for 'incredible courage'
The Taoiseach praised Ireland's 6 Nations rugby champions after they lifted the trophy in Paris last night. "I think the team showed incredible courage," he said.
"It was a very physical match. They epitomised what the fighting Irish can be. My message is always when we apply ourselves to a single objective there is nothing can stop us, not even Les Bleus."
Reflecting the close 20-22 final scoreline, Mr Kenny said "it was almost in danger of being a repeat of New Zealand, against the All-Blacks," in a reference to the Kiwis' last-gasp victory against the Irish team last Autumn.
The Taoiseach was speaking at a St Patrick's Day breakfast in Boston which was attended by about 1000 people, and which included many local politicians such as Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Governor Deval Patrick.
