Taoiseach is “caught up in presidential leadership” says Labour TD in Seanad row
A LABOUR TD has accused Taoiseach Enda Kenny of being "totally caught up in presidential style of leadership" over his stance on the Seanad.
Dublin Mid-West TD Joanna Tuffy is against the abolition of the Seanad and told the Dail Mr Kenny is being "anti-politics" and "populist" for wanting to scrap it.
Ms Tuffy also said Mr Kenny is contributing to the "ongoing denigration of politics", while Labour Wicklow TD Anne Ferris said: "The Seanad serves a purpose and abolishing it serves none"
Fianna Fail TD Dara Calleary says there isn't a "lot of love" among Government TDs for abolishing the Seanad, and said Coalition deputies' relationship with the bill is like a status update on social networking site Facebook which says: "It's complicated."
