TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has denied that trolleys were wheeled out of an Accident and Emergency department before he visited last Monday.

Mr Kenny opened a new paediatric unit at Cork University Hospital last Monday where he said there was a "very enthusiastic" crowd.

However, Kerry TD Danny Healy Rae told the Dáil that before his arrival "many trolleys were wheeled out of the A&E and into different wards".

"Why did that happen Taoiseach? Who’s accountable for that? Who are they trying to fool? Were they trying to cod you? Were they afraid of you? What are you going to do about it?" Mr Healy Rae asked.

"That was shameful, what was done in Cork last Monday evening."

In response Mr Kenny said he "wasn’t near the Accident and Emergency unit".

"I’ve no knowledge of trolleys being wheeled out," he added.
