Take-aways score as football fans eat in
Almost a fifth of football fans watching the Euro 2012 games are likely to overindulge and consume more takeaways during the tournament, data suggests.
Of the football fans watching the games, 19.5pc admitted they will be eating more fast food and a quarter said they will drink more alcohol. Meanwhile, similar data shows that other sports fans are likely to indulge in more sweet treats during the Olympics and Wimbledon.
One in 10 people who will be watching the 2012 Games and the tennis tournament said they would consume more treats. A survey, conducted ahead of the UK's Gut Week 2012, found that 54pc are likely to overindulge. Dr Nick Read, an expert in Irritable Bowel Syndrome, said: "With the Olympics and Euro 2012 taking place, it's going to be a thrilling summer, but do pace yourself.
"The Gut Week research shows that a staggering 85pc of us aren't aware of the negative effect that certain foods have on the way that we feel, so watch what you eat."
