Swim to raise money for Special Olympics cancelled due to E.Coli at popular beach
A swim due to take place tonight to raise money for the Special Olympics has been cancelled due to the presence of e-coli in the water.
The event was due to take place this evening at Windsurfers Pier in Monkstown, Dun Laoghaire.
Organised by the Garda Swimming and Lifesaving club the 1,500m swim cannot go ahead due to a warning from the local council.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has warned that there is no bathing at Killiney, Seapoint and Blackrock until Monday July 3 due to a high level of Enterococci and E.Coli.
The race will be reschedule for a later date in July.
