Suspended jail term for woman who bit garda

A MOTHER of one, who bit a garda who was trying to break up a fight between her and her sister, has been given a two-and-a-half-year suspended sentence.

Patience Ojebouvboh (33) of Greencastle Avenue, Coolock, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assaulting Garda Keith Branigan causing him harm at the Maxol Garage on Crumlin Road, Crumlin, on April 10, 2011.

The garda went to St James's Hospital as his finger became infected. A victim-impact report before the court indicated Gda Branigan was anxious he may have contracted a disease. Blood tests later came back negative.

Judge Patricia Ryan sentenced the woman to two-and-a-half years, suspended in full on conditions including that she keep the peace for that time.
