SUSPECTED guns were seized and a man was arrested by police as part of a surveillance operation linked to an investigation into dissident republicans in Northern Ireland.
The man was detained when officers stopped a BMW car near Hillsborough, Co Down, on the main Belfast-Dublin road.
A number of properties in west Belfast were searched.
Police confirmed today that two suspected guns were recovered from the scene.
Ammunition was also found.
It is understood the car had been under surveillance before the man was arrested and taken away for questioning.
