Survivor 'knew who started' fatal house fire
A NEIGHBOUR who went to the scene of a fatal fire heard another man claim he knew "who done it", an inquest has heard.
Alfie Fynes was giving evidence in Dublin Coroner's Court at the inquest into the death of homeless man Philip O'Connor (44), who died on October 24 last year after he was pulled from the house fire in Balrothery, Co Dublin. Mr O'Connor had been drinking with others in the house.
Mr Fynes said he guided gardai to the rear of the house where he saw Mr O'Connor lying on the ground. He said he then overheard Issa El Masri, who had been in Mr O'Connor's company, say: "I know who done it."
Coroner Dr Brian Farrell adjourned the matter to November 20.
