'Sunday Independent' columnist to be honoured with literary award in Cork

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor Mary Shields, will present the 2014 Lennox Robinson Literary Award to Sunday Independent columnist Eoghan Harris at Douglas Library, Cork, on Saturday, February 27, as part of the second Lennox Robinson Festival.

The 2015 award will go to a distinguished visitor to this year's festival, Professor Ying Tai Chang from Taiwan National University, herself a successful playwright and novelist. Prof Chang will speak about the literary legacy of Lennox Robinson, author of such classics as The Whiteheaded Boy and Drama at Inish, who is held in high esteem in Taiwan University.

A popular feature of the festival is likely to be the appearance of showband legends like Joe McCarthy of The Dixies, Art Supple of the Victors, and Steve Travers of the Miami, reciting their favourite poems.
