Stud syndicate romps home with €100,000 win

COOLMORE Stud was home to champions of a different breed yesterday when eight of the staff who work there scooped a €100,000-plus Lotto prize.

The eight-man syndicate from the world-renowned horse racing facility have a regular flutter on the lottery, but they beat the odds when they matched five numbers plus the bonus in last Saturday's Lotto Plus 1 draw -- winning €100,000 worth of diamonds as well as the regular prize of €3,500.

There was definitely a sparkle in their smiles when the eight turned up at the National Lottery offices to collect the all-important cheque and enjoy a glass of bubbly in the winner's enclosure, so to speak.

Our picture shows the syndicate members at National Lottery HQ in Dublin after they collected their cheque. Front row: David O'Meara, Eddie Croke, Liam Boland and Ian Gough. Back row: Joe Martin, Tom Cummins, Michael Kennedy and Declan Fanning.

A jubilant Liam Boland said: "We are all absolutely thrilled".

"Our numbers certainly came up on the right night.

"To win €3,500 would have been great. To win €100,000 on top of that is a fantastic bonus," he said.
