A group of work colleagues who collected a €3.8m Lotto jackpot yesterday are back in work at a cheese factory today.

The 10 friends employed in the Cheesestrings department of Kerry Foods, in Charleville, Co Cork, took just one day off to celebrate winning €388,375 each and will be back on the factory floor today. The syndicate were in high spirits as they celebrated with champagne at National Lottery Headquarters in Dublin.

"I got a phone call about the Lotto win but I thought, at first, it was the €3,500 jackpot from Bruree GAA," said a delighted Ger Maher (59), from Dromin Athlacca, Co Limerick.

He could hardly believe it when syndicate member Eilish Hayes, from Knockderry, Co Limerick, telephoned him with the news it was the 'real' Lotto.
