WATCH: Man battles huge waves in Dublin to save harbour-side seat Newsdesk Newsdesk

An eyewitness has said that he thought a man filmed while desperately trying to save a seaside seat at the height of Storm Emma was "in the harbour" after a wave hit him.

The man was seen walking over to the bench on Dublin harbour with a rope in his hand to try and save it from being washed into the sea.

"I thought he was in the harbour because after the wave hit I couldn't see him," Chris Lawless (40) told

"He was trying to do a good deed and save the seat but at the end of the day, there's a time and place and this wasn't a great time.

"He's used to the sea because he's been around it most of his life but you can't play around with nature. It could have easily went wrong for him," Chris said.

"He saved the chair and it is sitting there now after the storm has passed but with all the weather warnings I don't think he should have risked it. I wouldn't have."
