Stop the presses: Wrong Irish Times page one goes online

An embarrassed Irish Times had to pull a page from its online edition today after it had been mistakenly posted to its ePaper.

The page, which features mock articles as well as photographs and sketches to mark the end of Geraldine Kennedy’s tenure as editor, has since been pulled.

It’s a long-standing newspaper tradition that when a journalist retires, or leaves, that colleagues create a tongue-in-cheek mock up page in tribute.

The spoof headline reads: ‘Political system in turmoil as Madam bows out’.

It also includes a skyline blurb which reads ‘Sisters in the hood: six month series begins today’.

Yesterday, Kevin O’Sullivan, the paper’s news editor since 2006, was named as Kennedy’s successor
