Puskás Award runner-up Stephanie Roche is off to the USA after penning a two-year deal with National Women's Soccer League side Houston Dash.
The Ireland international, a contributor to independent.ie, will move across the Atlantic in early March for pre-season with the side before their league starts in April.
Roche (25), pictured right with Emily Fitzsimons (7) was in Dublin yesterday to help kick off the TK Maxx and Enable Ireland 'give up clothes for good' campaign. "No Irish woman has ever gone over to play in the NWSL so it is going to be a big challenge for me. I am under no illusions it is going to be easy," she told the Irish Independent.
After shooting to fame she moved to France but now says she "jumped into it too fast". Dash head coach Randy Waldrum said he was "excited" by his new signing. see sport
