GERRY Corr and his children Andrea, Caroline, Sharon and Jim, were joined by stars from the world of music as they gathered in Dundalk to pay their last respects to Jean Corr yesterday afternoon. The 57-year-old mother of The Corrs died on Wednesday night.
The thousand or so mourners heard her described as the most avid fan of her children's careers and she had every paper clipping about them to prove it. ``No mother was as proud of her children as Jean was. The measure of her love (for her family) is seen and expressed in the sadness of those she loved,'' family friend Fr Malachy Murphy told the congregation.
Among the mourners were Bono, Larry Mullen, Brian Kennedy and Paul Brady. As the mass began, Fr Murphy asked members of the press to remember why they were there: ``Some people are here at the behest of an editor. I would ask us all to remember why it is we are here, it is for the happy repose of Jean and to pray for her family.''
Mrs Corr died in the Freeman hospital in Newscastle where she had been waiting for a lung transplant.
