Irish actress Saoirse Ronan will receive this year's Maureen O'Hara Award at the Kerry Film Festival.
The Carlow native, Oscar nominee and star of 'Atonement' and 'The Lovely Bones' will receive the award at a ceremony in the Siamsa Tire theatre in Tralee on October 13.
The award recognises women who have excelled in film.
Former recipients include the actors Brenda Fricker and Juliette Binoche.
Over 100 short films, chosen from more than 700 entries from all over the world, will be screened at venues throughout the county as part of the festival from October 9 to 25.
This year the focus of the festival is on Ireland's young filmmakers.
