Staff at petrol station left terrified after armed masked man raided premises

Staff at a Wicklow petrol station were left terrified after a masked man threatened them with a knife and demanded cash.

The robbery occurred yesterday evening at the station on Dublin Road, Arklow.

The raider entered the station at approximately 5pm. He then fled the premises in the direction of Briggs Lane, Arklow.

Gardai were called and later arrested a man in his twenties in connection with the robbery.

All the cash was recovered.

He was detained at Arklow Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The man was released from custody last night and a file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Investigations are continuing into the robbery.
