South Dublin homes in power cut

Hundreds of homes in South Dublin are without power this morning.

An ESB spokesman said areas such as Carrickmines, Sandyford, Dundrum and Leopardstown are currently affected.

The outage occurred as a result of a fault at an electricity station at Carrickmines.

Network crews are currently working on rectifying the problem.

The spokesman said a sub-station fault is generally straight forward to repair and they are confident it will be resolved shortly.

They estimate that the fault will be fixed by 12.45pm today.

The power outage is affecting traffic lights in these areas and AA Roadwatch are advising motorists to take extra cautions.
