Six years' jail for sex abuse council worker
A FORMER council official, already facing prison in a "graves for sale" case, was jailed for six years yesterday for sexually abusing five boys, writes Gordon Deegan.
The victims of Sean Leamy (61) "had their childhood stolen" by him, the sentencing judge said.
Judge Carroll Moran said that the youngest victim was a seven-year-old boy, with the oldest being 14.
The judge told Ennis Circuit Court that it was "really scandalous" the abuse continued over a 27-year period.
"All of the victims are traumatised and suffered acutely as a consequence of what happened. This is a bad case," he added.
Mr Leamy pleaded guilty to 21 counts of indecent assault and sexual assault from 1978 to 2005.
