Six dogs stolen in raid on animal sanctuary
A SEARCH is under way for a gang who broke into an animal sanctuary and stole six dogs that were being treated there.
Gardai fear that the animals may suffer further abuses after they were taken in a raid at the sanctuary in Co Galway.
The Galway Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) facility located near the village of Killimor was ransacked during the raid.
Margaret O'Sullivan, spokeswoman for the GSPCA, said the stolen dogs were "a mixture of greyhound lurchers, Jack Russells and one husky. One of the greyhounds needed medical attention because of broken toes and one of the Jack Russells needed medicine for nasal injuries.''
The GSPCA has appealed for anyone with information to contact it on 091-563631.
