Sister who kept vigil for brother dies suddenly

A WOMAN who kept vigil at her critically ill brother's bedside for months has died suddenly.

Mother-of-one Claire Mythen (44) was found dead at her home in Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

For the past number of months she kept a vigil at her brother Paul's bedside at Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast.

Paul (38), an amateur film-maker and musician, was attacked by a man with a hammer in February and received severe head injuries. He remains in a critical condition.

Another man, Paddy Harkin, died during the horrific assault in a flat in Derry.

A man has since appeared in court charged with the attack.

Claire travelled regularly to Belfast from her home at Leck Cottages and stayed for days with Paul during her holidays from work.

She was buried yesterday following funeral Mass in St Eunan's Cathedral, Letterkenny.

Her brother Gerard said the past few months had just proved too much for her.

A friend said: "It's just so sad. Claire gave up her life for Paul. They were so close."
