Sinn Fein defends €55 cost of signed Gerry Adams' book
Sinn Fein has defended the price of Gerry Adams' autographed book of his final Presidential address after it was met with criticism.
The book costs 50 euro plus a five euro fee (£48) for shipping anywhere in the world. The party defended the price given the outgoing president is only signing a "very limited" number.
Sinn Fein says the book contains Mr Adams' final presidential address from the 2017 Ard Fheis in both English and Irish as well as a number of photos.
The party posted a video of Mr Adams signing covers of the book - which led to some questioning the price of it.
One said: "Too dear, would like to buy it, but couldn't afford that price".
Another said: "Moans about austerity but charges 55 euro for a picture book".
"Sort out the homeless rather than promoting Gerry's memoirs," added another.
Another questioned why the footage didn't show the book.
Sinn Fein's official Facebook page replied saying: "He was signing the first print run of covers that had just come off the press for the video. The books look great. And of course part of the price is that he is only signing a very limited number of them."
When questioned on the delivery times of the book Sinn Fein said it would be "worth the wait".
