A YOUNG man who was shot last night is a friend of another gun victim who survived a gun attack last week.
Jason McCormack (21), from the Greencastle estate in Coolock, was discharged from Beaumont Hospital at 3am today after receiving treatment for the gunshot wound to his lower leg.
The incident happened at Moatview Avenue and it is understood that he was blasted once in the leg.
Senior sources have revealed that the young man has not provided gardai with a statement about what happened and detectives are probing the motive and if it is linked to another gun attack in the same area last week.
The Herald can reveal that McCormack is a close pal of Carlo Moloney who is making a good recovery after being shot last Thursday night.
A garda spokesman said night: 'Gardaí are investigating a shooting incident at Moatview Avenue, Coolock in Dublin at 9.20pm on November 13.”
“A 21 year old man received a single gunshot wound to the lower leg. The man has been taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.”
McCormack's pal Moloney (22) was shot in the arm and leg at 7pm last Thursday when he was approached from behind by a gunman who shot him.
He has also been discharged from hospital.
No arrests have been made in either case which are being investigated by Coolock gardai.
