Ships ahoy as festival hits quays
Majestic tall ships and schooners sailed into Dublin Port yesterday afternoon for the annual Riverfest celebrations.
The festival will bring a carnival atmosphere to Dublin's historic North Wall Quays.
One vessel that travelled from Belfast contained a crew that was made up of mostly young people.
Their ship called Maybe came to Dublin for a youth training week as part of Sail Training Ireland.
Charlotte Dowson (20) from Yorkshire, England, told the Irish Independent that it has been an amazing experience for her.
"Yesterday was a very choppy day on the Irish Sea and to be honest a lot of us got sick. But at the end you really appreciate how much of a great experience it is," she said.
Berthed on North Wall Quay, the ships will be open to the public to visit free of charge as part of the three-day maritime-themed festival.
