Shay saddles up to support cross-border cycle challenge
The footballer helped publicise the Co-operation Ireland Maracycle challenge from Belfast to Dublin and back to Belfast, along with two participants from his home county of Donegal.
Tommy Gallen and Ronan Brennan from the Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey are part of a six-strong team taking on the 200-mile challenge.
It is expected that the event, sponsored by the Irish Independent, will attract up to 1,000 cyclists when it takes place on June 23 and 24.
Mr Given, who is not taking part, said he was happy to lend his support.
Mr Brennan, a manager at the Villa Rose Hotel, said: "We're doing about a 130 or 150 miles training a week to get into shape for it."
Cyclists will leave from Upper Malone, Belfast on June 23, finishing at DCU in Dublin. Paula Madigan of Co-operation Ireland said there was still time to enter by logging on to www. cooperationireland.org.
