Shay Gibbon is No 1 attraction
THEY'RE both agile, acrobatic and named Shay. One is Ireland's goalkeeper and the other is a hairy baby ape of unknown sex.
In honour of the great Donegal man, a baby agile gibbon in Fota Wildlife Park in Cork has been named Shay Gibbon.
A competition was held on Facebook to pick a name for the three-month-old ape. Shay beat George, Mel and Robin, after the late member of the Bee Gees, in the online poll. One problem: the little one has been closely guarded by its mother Chloe and its sex remains unknown. If it's a girl they'll call her Shea, after a character in the TV series 'Game of Thrones'. Simple.
