Shauna Bowers won Editor of the Year at the Oxygen National Student Media Awards for her work on 'The College View' at DCU.

As one of the most-desired awards of the evening, it was judged by Irish Independent editor Fionnán Sheahan.

Other major awards were Newspaper of the Year, which went to the 'Limerick Voice' at UL, and Journalist of the Year, won by Aoife Walsh of UCC.

UCD won the most awards, taking home six, while DCU and UCC both picked up five each. DIT won four awards, Trinity won two, while UL and NUIG both won one award each.

Dublin GAA manager Jim Gavin, RTÉ's Eileen Dunne and Senator David Norris were among the presenters at the awards held in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Known as the Smedias by students, the awards are an opportunity for aspiring media professionals to showcase their work and talent to Ireland's leading media organisations.

More than 500 guests attended, including judges, presenters, sponsors and students.
