Shane Ross asks John McGuinness to temporarily step aside
INDEPENDENT TD Shane Ross has asked that Public Accounts Committee chairman John McGuinness vacate the chair of the Dail spending watchdog so TDs can ask questions about the controversy surrounding him.
Mr Ross has this afternoon formally asked the PAC clerk that Mr McGuinness "vacate the chair chair at the next meeting to answer questions about ministers travelling with spouses at the taxpayers' expense".
It is understood Mr Ross's request is only for Mr McGuinness to temporarily vacate the chair.
The Dublin South TD has said the political controversy surrounding Mr McGuinness is damaging the PAC.
