Seven arrested over Limerick double killing
Seven people were arrested today over the double killing of a young man and woman at a house in Southill in Limerick.
Gardai said they have launched a murder inquiry into the deaths of Des Kelly, 23, and Breda Waters, 28.
The four men and three women being detained are aged between their mid-twenties and fifties.
They were arrested in Limerick city and are being held at Bruff, Roxboro Road, Mayorstone, Shannon, Henry Street and Newcastle West Garda stations.
The victims were found yesterday with gunshot wounds in separate areas of a terraced house at Castle Oaks View in O'Malley Park.
State pathologist Marie Cassidy is carrying out preliminary post-mortem examinations at the scene.
Detectives believe the shootings were drugs-related.
It is thought a gunman fired a fatal shot into the head of Kelly, a known criminal, near the back door of the house at around 9.30am yesterday morning.
Ms Waters, who began dating Kelly recently, may have been shot dead because she witnessed the attack, it is believed.
