Seoige feels 'incredibly lucky' after birth of first child Cathal
Broadcaster Síle Seoige is "happy and thankful" for the safe arrival of her first child.
The 38-year-old former RTÉ star welcomed baby Cathal in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Both mother and baby are healthy.
Seoige announced in February she was expecting a child with her boyfriend of two years, Garda Damien O'Farrell.
Yesterday she shared a picture of the baby on social media. "Feeling incredibly lucky, thankful and so so happy," she said.
The broadcaster, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer five years ago, had spoken about how lucky she felt when she became pregnant.
"After going through something so scary with cancer, now I'm with child. I just feel really, really lucky," she said.
Speaking about her partner Damien she said: "He's an absolute gem - we're both just over the moon, we're so happy. We're so lucky. You never know... now we have this amazing new chapter in our lives."
