TWO senior Fine Gael ministers have weighed in heavily behind Justice Minister Alan Shatter in the penalty points controversy.
Environment Minister Phil Hogan said Mr Shatter's disclosure of garda information about Independent TD Mick Wallace was not a resigning matter.
"I think Minister Shatter has fully explained the position. I think Deputy Wallace looked for transparency and Minister Shatter has responded.
"And I am fully supportive of the ministers explanation in relation to this matter," he said.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton repeated the support he expressed yesterday and said if people wanted to put additional questions to Mr Shatter, there would be an opportunity to do so in the Dail.
"I think Alan Shatter has dealt with it fully and will answer any questions that are needed during the course of the week," he said.
